VISION: Jared is plenty experienced with sex in that he's had a lot of it, but he's not anything incredible. He's not typically inclined to foreplay, although if the woman initiates it, he's more than happy to follow along. He's a little selfish in bed, but he's also secretly eager to please, so with some direction from a partner unashamed of giving it, he's likely to be a much better partner for it in the future. Due to his history, making babies is like at the bottom of his priority list and it would depend on a case-by-case basis whether he would want to keep or give them away.

Jared thinks the world revolves around him. He's arrogant but it normally comes off as a playful arrogance because he tends to use humor as a way to put himself across as the outgoing and fun person he actually isn't. If someone was to get to know Jared well, they'd learn that he's actually very insecure and has an inferiority complex caused mostly by being the less successful and younger of his parents' two children. He can be defensive and sarcastic if he feels like someone is putting him — or someone he cares about — down. He will be the first to crack a joke in an uncomfortable situation and it's likely to be inappropriate in nature or timing, but that's sort of a nervous tick, although without knowing him well the nerves would be difficult to feel out. He puts himself across as very confident, loud, and obnoxious when he really only possesses the latter two traits.

Jared is mostly very friendly and he does enjoy making friends and bonding with others, however picky he might be. When choosing whose company to keep, Jared is more likely to surround himself with people less comfortable in their own skin as well as meeker and milder people, specifically the ladies. He does this without realizing it, most of the time, because it makes him feel better to be surrounded by those even less comfortable with themselves than he is with himself.

Most people won't know that Jared is actually a sap at heart. He's a total romantic when he has a girlfriend — though this doesn't happen terribly often, as he's fairly shallow and picky about romantic partners — and he's a total mama's boy.

Jared's just a normal human, so he hasn't got any special super powers. He is, however, incredibly intelligent, having been tested as a literal genius with an IQ approaching 160. You'd never know it, because he's kind of an immature douchebag, but there it is. He's intuitive and innovative; this is a guy who can MacGyver a bong out of a turtle shell or build a fully functioning computer from scratch parts without breaking a sweat, but not without some general trial and error before getting it right.

history

Jared Jacobs was born and raised in the Midwest, specifically in the Geist section of Indianapolis, Indiana. His mother and father were both doctors — his mother, a general practitioner and his father, a surgeon — and his older brother grew up to be a military man. Jared, on the other hand, was a lot less ambitious from the get-go. While he was very talented in every sport his parents threw him into, he never stuck with any of them. After graduating high school, Jared attended IUPUI for one year before dropping out and going to work in retail where he was content to laze around in his entry level position at a local Game Stop.

As a kid, he grew up very much in his older brother's shadow. Jared's brother was obedient and well-mannered, mastering and committing to sports, science, and easily fitting into any social situation in which he was placed. Jared, however, was socially awkward throughout elementary and middle school and had the misfortune of being placed in some of the same classes taught by those who had held his older brother in such high esteem. In an effort to separate himself from his brother, Jared adopted a class clown persona, being loud and obnoxious in classes and generally doing the absolute minimum amount of work required to pass. He never put any effort into being extraordinary in spite of the fact that he was — and is — exceptionally intelligent.

By the time he reached high school, Jared had perfected the practice of fitting in, being the popular goofball everyone liked to be around, and the ladies man, all without putting any extra effort into any of these things. His sense of humor and tendency to be outspoken, along with his penchant for pranks and troublemaking made it easy for him to make friends; his looks lured in the girls. All of it was a façade, but it did its job, hiding the inferiority complex he pretended not to have.

When Jared was in high school, he and his girlfriend at the time, Emily, became each other's first time. What resulted a few weeks down the line, after many further clumsy sexual encounters, was an unexpected and unwanted pregnancy. When she found out, Jared promised to support her all the way, drop out of school, go to work; do whatever he had to do, but her parents would have none of it. She broke up with him and then her parents moved her away. He has no idea whether she had the baby and if she did, whether she kept it. He doesn't know what it is, boy or girl, and he tries not to think about it too much. Emily never talked to him again after breaking up with him; in fact, she changed her number so that he couldn't even try to reach her himself, so mainly he's put it out of his mind...

While all of Jared's friends had gone off to start new adult lives in neighboring state schools or bigger and better things, Jared opted for remodeling his parents' basement into an apartment, wiring it with cable and fixing the electrical feeds to be safer, as well as building a bathroom and managing to get the plumbing to work so that he had a functional shower, toilet, and sink. With the separate entrance that didn't require going through the main part of the house, this meant that Jared could come and go as he pleased and have all of the independence of his own place without having to pay any of the bills or take on any of the responsibilities of living alone and he was content with that. He's still doing that, even now, in spite of the fact that he could and probably should be doing bigger and better things with his life. The offer from the gods was too good to refuse and, quite honestly, he's mostly interested in having lots of sex and showing off and a little less interested in building the community from an altruistic standpoint. Which, however, is not to say that he won't lend a hand where needed, but he'll need someone to tell him to get off his ass and do it or he'll just be content to treat this as a long ass vacation.
